Stefan Rinck is a Berlin-based sculptor known for his distinctive sandstone figures that fuse mythology, humor, and medieval symbolism. His animal-like creatures, often in military formations, reclaim their suppressed demonic potential, reflecting themes of power and transformation. As “swindlers,” they mimic human ambition, adopting intellectual and moral symbols to subvert mankind. Rinck studied Art History and Philosophy in Saarbrücken before pursuing Sculpture in Karlsruhe. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris and Museum de Hallen (Haarlem). Featured in 100 Sculptors of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson, 2019), his practice was also the subject of the 2021 documentary Heart of Stone by Sonja Baeger.
