Imi Knoebel

Imi Knoebel is a German artist known for his minimalist and abstract approach, working primarily in painting, sculpture, and installation. Deeply influenced by the legacy of the Bauhaus and the teachings of Joseph Beuys at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Knoebel’s practice revolves around the exploration of form, color, and material. He is renowned for his layered aluminum works and precise geometric abstractions, which often engage with spatial perception and chromatic intensity. Knoebel’s art balances rigorous structure with vibrant expressiveness, reflecting both conceptual clarity and painterly sensitivity.
