Sigmar Polke was a German painter and experimental artist whose practice spanned painting, photography, printmaking, and film. As a co-founder of “Capitalist Realism” alongside Gerhard Richter, Polke developed a critical and ironic visual language that questioned mass media, ideology, and perception. Using unconventional materials such as resin, fabric, and chemical reactions, he blurred the boundaries between high and low culture. Polke’s work embodies curiosity, humor, and skepticism — a continuous investigation into how images shape our understanding of reality.
